Sometimes drones are annoying, like when they get in the way of firefighters trying to battle brush fires.
But this drone video was used to create a love letter to Los Angeles.
It’s both thoughtfully produced and beautifully shot.
“I continue to be awe struck by how much of this vast city I have partially or completely overlooked before undertaking this video,” Wood writes in the video description. “And like most voyages of discovery, I’ve realize there’s so much more to find.”
The montage features aerial views of many of LA’s iconic locations, which can also be found on this map.
Set to BLu ACiD’s electro-blues adaptation of “If You Ain’t Never Had The Blues,” Wood writes he felt the song was “fitting to a city of eclectic styles and influences, equal parts refined and rough edges.”
What makes this drone video even better?
Wood is law-abiding and courteous about drone-flying. He explains his drone protocol, which includes the legal rules to keep in mind when filming in the air — such as avoiding airports and restricted airspace, respecting residential areas for noise and privacy, etc etc.
It might sound like common sense, but apparently not for everyone.
